Media Center News

Celebrate With Books!  This program allows parents to donate $10 to the media center for a special book to be donated to the library.  A bookplate with the special information will be placed in the front of the book and the student may check out that book in addition to his/her regular library books.  The student will be the first person to check out this book and the bookplate will remain in the book while it remains in the collection.  This is a great way to honor a child's birthday, a special pet, teacher, or other loved one.

Parent Resources:  A parent resource shelf in the media center contains helpful books and videos that address parenting and homework issues.  All Carver parents are invited to check out these materials.

Scholastic Book Fair:  The Fall Scholastic Book Fair which took place September 29th through Monday, October 5th was a BIG success!  Many thanks to co-chair parents Kristin Carver and Cindy Schuh who did a great job organizing volunteers, managing the book drawings, and all the other details.  Please contact Ms. Heimbrook if you would like a breakdown of the intake from the book fair.  Proceeds will be used to purchase media center resources.  We are hoping to invite and author or illustrator to visit Carver this year.  Funds from the book fair will also be used to finance this visit.

Book Swap:  We are planning another Carver Book Swap later this year - a great way to clean out book shelves and get more reading material for FREE!  Stay tuned for more information about this event!
