Arrival Times & Procedures
Students should arrive at school no earlier than 7:00 a.m.and no later than 7:50 a.m. each day. Adult supervision will begin at 7:00 each morning (only in the cafeteria).  Students will be marked "Tardy" after 7:50 a.m.

Early Dismissal
Parents are asked to schedule their children's doctor and dental appointments around school hours.  If this is not possible, please send a note to your child's teacher stating the time that you will pick your child up.

Dismissal
Car riders and first buses will be dismissed at 2:05 p.m.  All other buses (except for second loads) will be dismissed at 2:10 p.m.   Supervision ends 2:30 p.m. each afternoon.  Students should be picked up prior to that time.

Transportation Changes
Please make every effort to settle after-school arrangements and personal concerns before your child comes to school.  If changes must be made, you should send a note to your child's teacher letting him/her know that the child is to go home a different way other than his usual way.  In case of emergency, you must notify the school office prior to 1:30 p.m. and we will deliver a message to your child's teacher.

Visitors
We are proud of our school and invite you to visit us anytime.  To insure our students' safety and to protect instructional time, all visitors are asked to report to the office upon arriving and pick up a visitor's pass.
Whenever you visit a classroom:
1.  Sit quietly so as not to interfere with instruction.
2.  Leave quietly.  If you have a question about something you observed, ask the principal before you leave the building or ask the secretary to have the teacher call you later.
3.  SMILE!!!  Your child and your child's teacher will feel better if you do!
4.  Under no circumstances are you to expect to talk to the teacher concerning your child during this visit.

Medication
If your child is to receive medication while at school, we must have the following on file in the school office:
1.  A signed and dated request authorizing us to give the medication which is signed by the parent.
2.  A signed and dated statement which contains the name of the medicine, the dosage, and the times it is to be given from your child's doctor.
3.  All medication must be brought to school in its original container by the parent/guardian
Carver Elementary is prohibited by state regulations from dispensing over-the-counter medication.
We are not allowed to give any medication unless these procedures have been followed.

Bad Weather Procedures
During the school year, if it is necessary to either dismiss the school early or not have school because of bad weather, parents are asked to rely on local radio and TV stations.  DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL TO OBTAIN CLOSING INFORMATION!!! (This ties up our phone lines and makes it impossible for the school to get critical information regarding dismissal procedures.

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Communication between the home and school is an essential part of the education program at Carver.  Carver teachers will be contacting you if they feel the need to share a concern, ask a question, or tell you some good news.  If you need to do any of the above, please feel free to contact the school office to arrange a conference or to have a teacher return your call.  Parents are also encouraged to take advantage of scheduled parent conferences.

General Rules
Students are not allowed to bring toys to school.
Students are not allowed to chew gum.
Students are not allowed to wear hats in the building.
Students are expected to raise their hand to be recognized in the classroom.
