Occupational Therapist

Mrs. Belk

Occupational Therapy is a healthcare profession that focuses on a person’s ability to perform daily occupations as successfully and independent as possible.  In the school setting, Occupational Therapy’s concern is to assist students in the special education program to be as independent and successful in his/her occupation of being a student.

Occupational Therapy support may be provided through consultation with school staff, direct therapy with a student, or a combination of the two.  Purposeful activities are designed by the Occupational Therapist to work to improve deficits in areas such as gross motor and fine motor coordination, eye-hand coordination, oculomotor coordination (eye-movement skills), visual perceptual skills, self care skills, and social skills.
