GOAL 1: To increase
opportunities for students to acquire and demonstrate
technological
skills.
Objective 1: Identify
technology or a new course(s) that provide additional
opportunities for students
to develop technical skills.
Objective 2: Train
existing instructors on the use of new technology.
Status: New program:
Computer repair and computer networking courses have been added for the
2005 school year. Approximately 350 computers are currently used for
training at the Career Center. Numerous staff and instructors training
activities have been completed; however, the process is ongoing.
GOAL 2:
To develop character education lessons, engaging students
in meaningful
discussions and
activities.
Objective 1: To identify and
secure materials that address the need for good work
ethics in the workplace.
Objective 2: To secure
instructional materials and implement activities that address
the six pillars of character and the important virtues of
honesty, courage,
integrity, and diligence.
Status:
Completed – videotapes and instructional materials have
been
purchased. Lesson plans have been developed.
GOAL 3:
To provide opportunity for students to apply academic
skills to solving problems in
their occupational
programs. Students will earn a 2.0 in the career and technology
education classes.
Objective 1:
Annually teachers will document their activities of
integrating academics
and occupational education.
Objective 2:
A Math and Science Technology Center will be
established at the Career
Center so applied academics and occupational instructors can
teach joint
lessons.
Status:
The Math and Science Laboratory has been established and
integration
activities on going.
GOAL 4:
Students will demonstrate improved technological skills
as a result of the facility
renovation plan.
Objective 1: Expand and
improve facilities and equipment that supports quality
occupational training.
Objective 2: Improve Graphic Communications students’ performance
and attitudes.
Status: The
Graphic Communication and Computer Repair/Networking programs
have been moved to renovated facilities. A specially
designed computer
course has been implemented for
academically challenged students.
Additional equipment has been made available for student
training.
GOAL 5:
To increase student enrollment in multi-period
occupational courses by thirty (30)
percent.
Objective
1: Identify reasons students are
unable to enroll in occupational training
programs.
Objective 2: Restructure
scheduling procedures to better accommodate students from
Wilson, West Florence, and South Florence High Schools.
Status:
Enrollment increased 107% in multi-period occupational courses.
