Awards and Accomplishments

Carver has an excellent teaching staff and a hard-working School Improvement Council.  We are proud of our parents, students, and teachers.  They make Carver Elementary School a "Great Place to Learn."

  • Nominated for the 2008-09 National Blue Ribbon Award

  • Received "Excellent" or "Good" for Absolute Score on the state School Report Card since 2002

  • Exceeds district and state PACT scores for reading and math

  • Met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in 2004 - 2007

  • Recognized in 2004, 2006, and 2007 for closing the achievement gap among students

  • Eleven National Board Certified teachers on staff

  • Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

  • Over half of Carver teachers hold advanced degrees

  • Have an active PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization) and a hard working School Improvement Council

  • Students participate in various service learning projects such as:  Jump Rope for Heart, fund-raising for leukemia patients, and collections for needy families, service men and women, and the animal shelter 

  • Interactive hands-on science for 5K-4th grade students

  • Technology across the curriculum for 5K-4th grade students

  • Selected as a South Carolina School of Promise

  • Past awards include:  Palmetto Gold and Silver, Reading Renaissance Model School, Literacy Spot for Reading Recovery, Healthy School Award, Physical Fitness Award, Red Carpet, media award for Bear Facts Newspaper, voted "Best of the Pee Dee"

 

Dr. Cynthia Young and Carver staff members accept the recognition for closing the achievement gap among students for the 2004 school year at the 2005 back-to-school convocation.
