Carver Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through fourth grade school with an enrollment of approximately 860 students.  Carver has a diverse ethnic and cultural student body. Carver is proud of its innovative instructional practices which include the following:

• A Reading Program using combination approaches:  phonics, literature, Reading Renaissance, and an integrated basal series.
• A Writing Program including journal writing, process writing, and a structured program called "Write From the Beginning", conferencing, and the Wee Deliver Program
• Mathematical concepts taught through various inquiry-based math programs
• Interactive hands-on science learning for 5K-4th grade students
• Social Studies taught through integration of technology, literature, and textbook
• Cooperative learning used in all classes
• Technology across the curriculum instruction
• All-day developmentally appropriate kindergarten with emphasis on reading readiness, math, writing, and science skills
• Character education taught school-wide through programs including the in-school Morning Show television program, classroom instruction, Second Step, Core Essentials Program, and guidance lessons.
• Standards-based art, music, physical education programs
• Fall and Spring book fairs, Fall Family Night, Spring Academic Fair, Fall Festival, and Spring Fling
• Certified media specialist teaches research skills through curriculum integration using technology, nonfiction books, and other resources
• Visiting authors and illustrators

After School Care Programs

• After School Care Program - Children have an opportunity to participate in lots of activities, such as games, crafts, music, and social-skill building.  Qualified adult assistants help the children with homework.  A nutritious snack is served each day.

• Academic Assistance - An after-school  program which provides students with academic help and extra practice in reading, writing, and math.

We Couldn't Do it Without You!

Carver is fortunate to have help from its community.  Carver's PTO has over 15 active committees.  There are approximately 200 volunteers who work with Carver students.  There are a variety of mentors who work with our students during and after school.

Recognition For Students

Carver's staff feel they work with some very special students and take pride in recognizing them.  Listed below are some of the ways staff members let students know just how special they are.
