The Mission of Dewey L. Carter

The mission of Dewey L. Carter is to prepare students to become responsible citizens and life-long learners.

The Beliefs of Dewey L. Carter Elementary

1. All students need access to the kinds of reading opportunities that will allow them to grow up to be successful members of society.

2. Each student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs, and his/her self esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff.

3. Students learn in different ways and learn best when they are actively involved in the learning process.

4. A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.

5. Developmentally appropriate learning activities enhance learning at all levels, and should incorporate opportunities that allow for differences in learning styles.

6. Students learn best when they have appropriate opportunities for success.
