Meet Results 2009 Swim Season

Sumter Invitational

            West Florence, South Florence, Sumter, Thomas Sumter Academy, and Wilson competed in a swim meet on Thursday, September 3^rd at Sumter Aquatics Center in Sumter, South Carolina. South Florence boys and girls both placed 4^th at the meet. 

            Competing for South Florence boys were Jake Hinton (senior), Tommy Brunson (freshman), Noah Trammel (7^th grader), Kyron Whitfield (senior), Thomas Emery (eighth grader), and Joshua Chilton (8^th grader).

Hinton placed 1^st 200 free (1:51.96) and 500 free (5:12.70) both state qualifying times. 

Brunson placed 4^th 100 free (1:08.70) and 10^th 100 breast (1:32.45).

Whitfield placed 7^th 50 free (34.32) and 10^th 100 free (1:26.79)

Trammel placed 10^th 50 free (35.05) and 7^th 100 back (1:36.17).

Chilton placed 12^th 100 free (1:33.07).

Emery placed 15^th 100 breast (1:47.94) and 17^th 50 free (42.13).

            Competing for South Florence girls were Amber Lee (7^th grader), Anna Heaster (freshman), and Verena Jack (sophomore).

Lee placed 3^rd 50 free (29.87) and 5^th 500 free (6:39.40).

Jack placed 3^rd 100 fly (1:34.86) and 4^th 100 back (1:30.41).

Heaster placed 4^th 100 free (1:14.87) and 5^th 200 free (2:42.57).

North Myrtle Beach Invitational

Thirty three swimmers from South, West and Wilson swim teams competed in the North Myrtle Beach Invitational Saturday, August 29^th.  South Florence senior Jake Hinton placed first in both of his events 50 free (22.63) and 100 backstroke (56.65) which are both state qualifying times. Swimmers that placed in the top twenty in their individual events:

South Florence - Amber Lee (7^th grader) placed 7^th 100 freestyle (1:06.27) and 8^th 100 breaststroke (1:26.45).  Hannah Brunson (senior) placed 9^th 200 free (2:33.03) and 19^th 100 free (1:12.18). Verena Jack placed 12^th 50 free (30.94) and 15^th 100 free (1:09.47). 

Carolina Forest Invitational

South Florence, West Florence, and Wilson began their 2009 High School swim season at the Carolina Forest High School Fall Invitational on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Coastal Carolina.  South Florence, West Florence, Wilson along with nine other boys and girls swim teams competed in the meet (Bishop England, Socastee, Waccamaw, Carolina Forest, Sumter, North Myrtle Beach, St. James, Myrtle Beach, and Brookland-Cayce).

South Florence boys’ team of Jake Hinton (senior), Tommy Brunson (freshman), Noah Trammel (7^th grader), Kyron Whitfield (senior), Thomas Emery (8^th grader), and Joshua Chilton (8^th grader) placed tenth overall.  Hinton finished first in the 100 fly and second in the 200 IM with a state qualifying times in both events. Brunson finished 13^th in the 100 breast and 16^th in the 200 free. Trammel finished 20^th in the 200 free and 100 free. Whitfield finished 21^st in the 100 back and 22^nd in the 50 free. Emery finished 20^th in the 100 back. Chilton finished 22^nd in the 100 free and 23^rd in the 50 free. The 400 free relay of Hinton, Brunson, Chilton, and Trammel placed in 7^th.  The 200 free relay of Trammel, Whitfield, Emery, and Chilton placed 11^th.                                                                                                Jake

South Florence girls’ team of Amber Lee (7^th grader), Hannah Brunson (senior), Verena Jack (sophomore), and Anna Heaster (freshman) placed eighth overall. Lee placed 10^th in the 200 free.  Brunson placed 10^th in the 100 fly and 12^th in the 200 free.  Jack placed 10^th in the 50 free and 11^th n the 100 free.  Heaster placed 13^th in the 100 free and 16^th in the 50 free.  The four girls placed 6^th in the 400 free relay and 7^th in the 200 free relay.

State Meet Results

AAAA High School State Swim Meet

South Florence Jake Hinton (senior) qualified to compete in the High School State Swim Meet held Saturday, October 10^th at the University of South Carolina.  Jake Hinton placed 2^nd 100 free (47.74) and 5^th 100 back (55.43) improving both of his swim times.
