Meet Results for 2009 Swim Season

Sumter Invitational

West Florence Boys Swim to Victory

            Wilson boys placed 2^nd and the girls placed 5^th. Competing for Wilson boys team were Brinson Laliberte (freshman), Vincent Hsu (freshman), Leander Stevano (7^th grader), Zachary Chandler (senior), David Wang (freshman), Matthew Cudd (8^th grader), Taylor Cagle (7^th grader), and Jonathan Ma (8^th grader). Laliberte placed 1^st 50 free (27.27) and 4^th 100 breast (1:20.03). Hsu placed 2^nd 100 free (1:03.13) and 3^rd 100 breast (1:15.30). Stevano placed 2^nd 100 fly (1:16.66) and 9^th 100 breast (1:28.87). Chandler placed 3^rd 100 free (1:07.79) and 4^th 50 free (29.86) Wang placed 5^th 50 free (33.03) and 12^th 100 breast (1:35.54). Cudd placed 6^th 200 free (2:42.82) and 13^th 100 breast (1:36.19). Cagle placed 2^nd 100 back (1:20.49) and 7^th 200 free (2:46.70). Ma placed 11^th 100 breast (1:33.23) and 12^th 50 free (36.08).  

Competing for Wilson girls team were Helena Wang (junior), Nishani Mathi (sophomore) and Elisa Gandy (freshman). Wang placed 7^th 200 free (2:58.71) and 100 breast (1:41.24). Mathi placed 6^th 100 breast (1:55.60) and 9^th 50 free (49.61).Gandy placed 5^th 100 breast (1:55.10) and 9^th 100 free (1:27.75).

North Myrtle Beach Invitational

Thirty three swimmers from South, West and Wilson swim teams competed in the North Myrtle Beach Invitational Saturday, August 29^th.  Wilson freshman Vincent Hsu placed 5^th 100 breast (1:14.25) state qualifying time.  Wilson freshman Brinson Laliberte placed 7^th 100 breast (1:17.65) with a state consideration time. West Florence senior Ryan Smith placed 4^th 50 free (25.41) state qualifying time. Swimmers that placed in the top twenty in their individual events:  Wilson - Vincent Hsu placed 7^th 200 free (2:27.29). Brinson Laliberte placed 8^th 100 free (1:02.36). Leander Stevano (7^th grader) placed 8^th 200 free (2:36.50) and 10^th 100 back (1:18.48). Matthew Cudd (8^th grader) placed 10^th in the 200 free (2:44.83) and 13^th 100 back (1:24.02).  Taylor Cagle placed 10^th in the 200 IM (3:02.12). Zachary Chandler (senior) placed 17^th 100 breast (1:28.08). Sydney White (7^th grader) placed 13^th in the 100 breast (1:29.37). David Wang (freshman) placed 20^th 100 breast (1:31.76)

Carolina Forest Invitational

Wilson began their 2009 High School swim season at the Carolina Forest High School Fall Invitational on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Coastal Carolina.  South Florence, West Florence, Wilson along with nine other boys and girls swim teams competed in the meet (Bishop England, Socastee, Waccamaw, Carolina Forest, Sumter, North Myrtle Beach, St. James, Myrtle Beach, and Brookland-Cayce).

Wilson boys’ team of Taylor Cagle (7^th grader), Zachary Chandler (senior), Matthew Cudd (8^th grader), Vincent Hsu (freshman), Brinson Laiberte (freshman), Jonathan Ma (8^th grader), Leander Stevano (7^th grader), and David Wang (freshman) placed 11^th overall.  Laliberte placed 8^th in the 50 free and 11^th in the 100 fly.  Hsu placed 9^th in the 100 fly and 10^th in the 200 IM. Stevano placed 9^th in the 500 free and 14^th in the 200 IM.  Cagle placed 12^th in the 100 back and 13^th in the 500 free. Chandler placed 11^th in the 200 free and 14^th in the 100 free.  Cudd placed 13^th in the 100 back and 16^th in the 100 breast.  Wang placed 21^st in the 50 free.  Ma placed 21^st in the 100 free. Hsu, Laliberte, Stevano, and Cagle placed 6^th in the 200 free relay.

Wilson girls’ team of Elisa Gandy (freshman), Nishani Mathi (sophomore),  Helena Wang (junior), and Sydney white (7^th grader) placed 12^th overall. White placed 10^th in the 100 breast and 17^th in the 200 free. Wang placed 17^th in the 100 back and 100 breast. Gandy placed 19^th in the 100 free and 21^st in the 50 free. Mathi placed 22^nd in the 50 free and 100 free.   The four girls placed 10^th in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay.
