Dear Parents,

WOW!  We have almost completed our first week.  It has been so exciting to see the children so ready and eager for school.  Thanks to all of you who prepared them so well for school.  This is going to be a great year for all of us.  We want every child to become an independent, eager learner.  With your help at home this will happen for your child.  Please be sure that you sign your child’s agenda book each night.  If there is something you want your child’s teacher to know, please write it in the agenda book.  Please be reminded that any changes in transportation for the day should be written in the agenda book.  Also, be sure to look over your child’s homework folder and reading log.  It is important that these things be done each day.

Again, thanks for all your help and we look forward to a wonderful year.

Signing Out Students

We ask that students only be signed out in emergencies.  Calling into a classroom to get a student interrupts instruction.  Please schedule all appointments after school.  Students may not be signed out after 1:15.  It is important that students be here for the final review of instruction.

Changes in Transportation

We ask that you write changes in transportation in your child’s agenda book.  We are losing valuable time when we interrupt instruction to tell a child to go home a different way.  We understand that emergencies happen and we will be glad to get the message to students in this situation but this does not need to happen every day.  If you must call a change to us, it must be done before 1:30.  We will not be able to make changes after 1:30. We complete our bus and daycare list at that time and it is important that our information be accurate.

Car Line Procedures

We have had quite a car line so far this year.  We ask for your patience and understanding as we work to keep children safe and to keep the line moving.  I would like to review a few guidelines with you.  Please stay in the car line and allow us to load and unload all children.  This is an important part to teaching your child to be independent.  We still have a few parents who are parking and coming inside during the afternoon dismissal time. This practice should stop immediately.  We must have you follow the procedures and remain in the line.  Once your child has been loaded, please pull up and out of the line to fasten seatbelts, car seats, etc. for children who need help.   We simply cannot fasten all children in and we ask that you move out of the line to do this so that the line can continue to move. As we learn names, faces, and cars the line will get faster.  Please do not talk on your cell phone in the car line.  We need for everyone to be alert at all times.  Have your child ready to unload.  The car line is not the place to sign agenda books, notes, or write checks. Remember also that our three year olds begin school on September 8.  You can expect a delay for the first few days after they arrive.  Again, I thank you for your patience and understanding.
