Philosophy of
Teaching
Teachers
today are different than teachers during my mother’s era. Today, teachers wear many hats: nurse,
babysitter, nutritionist, behavior counselor, parent, and police officer. I
wear all these hats and I wear them well and I enjoy doing so, I leave home
with a smile on my face every school morning (my husband pointed out this fact
to me). I wait at my classroom door with
that smile ready to greet my students to begin our day. This may be the only smile some of my
students will see.
I have three sayings (rules) in my
classroom that I live by and my students can tell you them. They are my feelings with Bryan and Andrea at
home also. First, “Don’t lie.” It is easier to tell the
truth then to keep telling lie after lie.
Besides, you will eventually get caught.
Second , “It’s easy to be nice.” And it is!
It takes more energy to be mean and more muscles to frown. If everyone was nice to one another, what a
wonderful world it would be. Third,
“Always do your best.” I care if you do
not do well on an assignment but if it is your very best, than I am happy.
The biggest reward for me is that I love
my job. I love children and making a
difference in their lives. I love
watching children learn. I love watching
children smile. I love teaching. I am so blessed to have a career that I truly
enjoy.
