It’s
that time of year:
We began the new year
with a bang at North Vista. We continue to encourage parents
to read with or listen to your child each and every day. This helps each child become a life-long
learner. Third grade is expecting our
Life Structure kits any day. The
children will love this area of study. This unit presents many hands-on
experiments. Multiplication is our math goal for the third nine weeks. Every
student needs to work on knowing all of the multiplication tables. We practice
every day in school and the children should continue to practice at home. Social Studies is all
about the Civil War and slavery. We also continue our focus during our reading
block. Independent and shared reading, grammar, and writing with a
concentration on parts of speech and sentence structure. This month we are learning all about
adjectives.. We
make connections when we read, such as text-to-self, text-to-text and
text-to-world. To improve reading
skills, the children work with our reading assistances and University Tutors as
they learn to work in reading groups.
