Dear Parents/Guardians,

The school year is quickly passing by, and we are working just as quickly to learn all the necessary information required in 1st grade!  Believe me when I say your child has a LOT to learn this last half of the year!  Therefore, I need your help!!!

Your child needs extra support at home, because there is no way we can accomplish everything at school.  Your help is greatly needed and appreciated.  The pace at school is very fast, and your child needs time to practice and absorb the information.  This is where homework comes into the picture.  Homework is designed to give students the extra practice they need.  Some students are not completing their assignments, and it shows in their comprehension of skills being taught in class.

As stated in the School-Parent-Student Compact, we are share equal responsibility in developing life long learners.  It is the parent’s responsibility to sign your child’s agenda daily.  Please do more than just sign it!  Ask to see your child’s completed homework assignments. Also, please talk with your child about the proper way to behave in class to be a successful student. Without an environment conducive to learning, NO learning can take place for your child or any child in the class. If we all work together, all the students can succeed.

Please read to your child daily. Reading to your child is so important because it helps him/she learns to express and write their thoughts. Questions and answers about the story help the development of their comprehension skills. So, please read and read often with them.

We MUST work together in order for your child to achieve success!  If you have any questions/concerns, please write a note in the agenda.  I will get back in touch with you!  I only want the best for your child, and I need your help!

Thank you so much in advance for your assistance,
