Dear North Vista Elementary Parents and Students:

Welcome to a new school year.  Our first day of school is August 17, 2009.  A new school year is always exciting.  Our focus will be on providing each child with new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience.  Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds on each year to reach local and state standards.  Instruction in the fine arts, technology, and physical education complete our program providing each student with the opportunity to develop areas of interest and skill.

The beginning of the school year is just around the corner.  As we begin this year, please remember that this is your school and we welcome your involvement.

There will be a back-to-school night August 20 at 6:00 p.m.  I encourage you to join us at school activities and participate in our school programs.  Please utilize the school website, www.fsd1.org/northvista . Your participation in these activities helps us to establish strong foundations together and be positive role models for your children.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.  I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success.

Sincerely,

Sharon R. Dixon
