Kindergarten September Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We will be covering the following standards during the months of August, September, and October. Your child will be assessed on the following skills for the Florence District Report Card. Interims will be sent home on September 18th. Report cards will be sent home on October 27th. Thank you for your help and support. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
Language:
- Names upper
and lowercase letters and recognizes their order in the alphabet
- Uses symbols
(drawings, letters, and words) to create stories about people, places, and
things
- Uses uppercase
and lowercase letters
- Uses pictures,
letters, or words to tell a story from beginning to end.
- Reads
environmental print (labels, store signs, street signs)
Math:
- Counts forward
to 25
- Classifies
objects by size, shape, color, or thickness
- Identifies a
circle, square, triangle, and rectangle
- Uses position
words (near, far, below, above, beside, next to, across from, between, after,
before) to describe the location of an object.
- Compares sets of no more than 31 objects by using
the terms more than, less than, and the same as
