One of four small learning communities (SLC) at South Florence
High School, the school of Engineering, Manufacturing, Science
and Industrial Technology (SEMSIT) seeks to prepare students for
professions in those career clusters. The other SLCs include the
School of Foundational Studies (9th grade), the school of
Business, Marketing, Finance, and Information Technology,
and the school of Health, Education and Human Services.
The
mission at South Florence High School and within the SEMSIT school involves preparing
students to become responsible citizens and life-long learners.
In addition, the SEMSIT academy teachers, counselors and administrators
strive to specifically direct each student toward the career
most compatible with his/her strengths. The ultimate goal: to
prepare students for the challenging educational and employment
opportunities available upon graduation from high school.
