West Florence High School is one of ten finalists from the states of North and South Carolina in Progress Energy’s SunSense Schools Competition.  The schools are competing for a $20,000 solar panel that will be installed on the school grounds.  The panel can be used by anyone in the school.  The Science classes can use it when they study energy and alternative energy sources, the Math and Science classes can track its production and complete calculations, English classes can use it for creative writing projects, etc.  West Florence can use all of the energy produced by the panel as well.  As a part of this challenge, we have to complete public service announcements and customized home energy surveys.  We are asking as many families as possible to complete these surveys.  Each survey will result in a customized home energy report, which will provide energy tips and even rebates that can be used toward improving your home’s electricity usage.  To complete this portion of the Energy Challenge, please go to www.progressCHER.com.  Once at this site, each customer will need to register using their Progress Energy account number and zip code. There will be an option to select your school name from a drop-down menu. It is very important that West Florence is chosen from the drop down menu, or we will not be credited with your survey.  Please take the survey for us.
