Wilson High School has initiated a policy that encourages students to do their best. This policy offers a second chance to master the concepts tested in assessments that comprise 50 % of the grade. Below are the components of the plan.
Computing Grades
Major assignments and tests are counted as 50% of the course grade.
Class work, daily work, quizzes, and homework are counted as 30% of the course grade.
The nine-weeks, EOC, and final exams will count as 20% of the course grade.
Policy Implementation
If a student earns a score below 77% on a 50% assessment, the student has the option to redo the assignment for a grade not to exceed 77%.
50% grades may be redone ONCE for a maximum grade of 77%. If the work is not done, a zero is recorded. The original grade is recorded if the work is not redone.
30% grades may NOT be redone. If a 30% assignment is not turned in, a zero is recorded. If a student earns a grade of less than 77%, the original grade is recorded. Example: A student earns 62 on a homework assignment. The 62 is the recorded grade.
Exams (nine weeks and finals) may not be redone.
All extra help and/or redo work must be completed within five school days (during advisement or as scheduled by the teacher).
