Mr. William S. Ward
Mr. Ward is in his sixth year with Florence School District One. Prior to being Carver's STEM Lab Coach, he taught at West Florence High School (WF). During his time at WF he has taught Physical Science, Chemistry, and Engineering. Mr. Ward began teaching after completing a successful career in the Pharmaceutical industry as a Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemist. He looks forward, each day, to sharing his scientific knowledge and problem-solving abilities with his students.
Mr. Ward graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Chemistry and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He then attended the Chemical Officer Basic Course and the Army Airborne School. Mr. Ward’s first assignment was at the U.S. Army Chemical Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CRDEC). While at CRDEC he attended Johns Hopkins University and completed a Master of Science degree in Technology. He was then assigned to Germany to finish the last three years of his military commitment obtaining the rank of Captain. Upon his return to the United States, he started his career in the Pharmaceutical industry.
Mr. Ward believes that a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education is critical for all students growing up in a very technical world. He is excited about the many learning opportunities available with Carver's STEM Lab. He sets the bar for each of his students to an individualized height that requires them to make an attainable stretch. He is also very pleased and excited about the many STEM initiatives within Florence School District One.
