Ms. Peterkin

I have many years of experience with working with children and adults.  I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker – Clinical Practice.  I combine professionalism and a naturally friendly and respectful attitude to help with students.

It is my goal as the Behavioral Health Counselor to enrich and enhance a student’s ability to be successful in the classroom setting.  Any student who is experiencing problems that interfere with learning can be referred for services and receive counseling services through the Behavioral Health Counselor.  Behavioral Health Services are available during the school day, are strictly confidential, and require parental consent.

I believe, the children who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways and there are no bad children, just impressionable conflicted young people wrestling with emotions and impulse, trying to communicate their feelings and needs the only way they know how. I also think a person’s most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge but a heart full of love, an ear ready to listen and a hand willing to help. Every child has a story that needs to be heard and maybe I am the one meant to hear it.
