Mrs. Cole

I have always lived in Florence and I am a product of Florence School District One. I graduated from West Florence, attended Francis Marion University and earned my Bachelor’s degree. Six years later, I returned to school and attended the University of South Carolina for a Master’s degree in early childhood education. Go Gamecocks!

This is my 23rd year teaching.  I have taught and worked with elementary and middle school level for most of my teaching experience.  My areas of experience and specialties are in elementary, middle level mathematics, and gifted & talented, all in FSD1. I am married and we have 2 children. We are active members of Palmetto Street Church of God and love working with the Sunday school program, missions as well as children’s choir. Our family loves roller coasters and we spend many days at amusement parks or planning our next adventure. We enjoy the mountains and love snow tubing!

It is my great pleasure to serve the EL population in Florence School District One this year.  I look forward to learning from my students and encouraging them to grow and achieve in all areas of their lives!

I have been an educator for seven years, and I have experience teaching grades 4K, 3rd, and 4th.  At the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, I transferred to Florence School District One from Marion County School District.  I can proudly say that I was raised and schooled in the small town of Mullins, SC.

My Bachelor's Degree in Psychology is from Clemson University, and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education Teaching is from  South Carolina State University.  In May of 2012, I received an additional Master's Degree and certification as an Educational Administrator through Coastal Carolina University.

I have one beautiful son named Levone who is the center of my word and a joy to love!  In addition to spending quality time with my son, I can most often times be found exercising or singing.

Florence is truly a fantastic place to work.  Teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL) is an opportunity that continues to broaden the horizons of my teaching career.  Each day is different, and my students are a constant source of amazement.  They are fun to work with, and watching them learn and grow is extremely rewarding.  Every day is an adventure!

I returned to college after working business administration within the oil and convenience story industry for almost two decades. In December of 2008, I received my Elementary Education degree from Francis Marion University. In February of 2009, I was temporarily employed by Florence School District One to immediately replace an ESOL teacher that left to teach overseas. Teaching English language learners the remainder of that year was rewarding to me; therefore, I applied for the full time ESOL position. Once hired, I returned to school to obtain my ESOL Certification. In 2014, I accepted the position of ESOL Instructional Coach for FSD1. This new position allows me to continue teaching students as well as providing professional development for mainstream teachers and administrators in our district.

I was born and raised in Illinois and attended Southern Illinois University where I studied literature and philosophy. Upon graduating, I spent several years teaching English as a foreign language in both Costa Rica and South Korea. After getting married in Costa Rica, my wife and I settled in South Carolina where we are raising two energetic young boys. I have been teaching English to speakers of other languages here in the United States since 2009. I cannot imagine a more interesting and satisfying vocation. In 2016, I finished a master’s degree in TESOL with a focus on linguistics and bilingual education. Apart from teaching, I spend my time listening to and playing music, reading voraciously, participating in water sports, and exploring the world with my family.
