Local Students to Participate in Junior Citizens Police Academy

The Florence Police Department, in cooperation with Florence One Schools, will offer an opportunity for interested students to learn more about their local police department.

The Junior Police Academy will kick-off an eight-week course for seventh and eighth grade students at Williams Middle School.  The Junior Citizens Academy will be held beginning Tuesday, March 21st  from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.  at the school and will continue for the next seven Tuesdays.

Officers from the Florence Police Department will present various topics for the students during the weekly sessions including police department organizational structure; police community services programs; a finger-printing demonstration; and proper incident reporting.  At the final session, a Junior Citizens Police Academy Graduation Ceremony will be held
